This study was developed as a collaborative effort of the UNDP and the UNWTO in response to the policy recommendations issued at the fifth Africa-Asia Business Forum (AABF V) and the acceleration of the implementation of the Yokohama Action Plan in the area of tourism development, including recommendations to address constraints to tourism development, support tourism operators to increase familiarization with African destinations, take advantage of the opportunities provided by the 2010 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in South Africa; and support long-term tourism promotion. Doing Business in 2009
This is the sixth in a series of annual reports comparing business regulations in 181 economies. Doing Business 2009 updates all sets of indicators, ranks economies on their overall ease of doing business, and analyzes reforms to business regulation-identifying identifying which countries are improving the most. The indicators are used to analyze economic outcomes and identify what reforms have worked, where and why. Growth is the second in a series of annual reports investigating
the scope and manner of regulations that enhance business activity
and those that constrain it. New quantitative indicators on business
regulations and their enforcement can be compared across 145 countries—from
Albania to Zimbabwe—and over time. The indicators are used
to analyze economic outcomes and identify what reforms have worked,

Patterns of Africa-Asia Trade and Investment, Potential
for Ownership and Partnership (2004)
The main objective of this report is to build a basic understanding
of the potential of Africa-Asia trade and investment relations—a
priority area recognized in the Tokyo International Conference on
African Development (TICAD). The potential of enhanced interregional
trade and investment relations has generated strong interest among
the participants of the third TICAD summit leading to a firm belief
among them that better business relations between Africa and Asia
could provide significant benefits for economic development in both

Competitiveness and Private Sector Development in Africa,
Cross Country Evidence from the World Bank's Investment Climate
Data (2004)
This paper is a first attempt at pulling together some cross-country
comparisons from the investment climate data for Africa. We have
focused our efforts on quantitative comparisons of survey responses,
with a view to carrying out more in-depth econometric work in future

Country-Specific Analysis of Africa-Asia Trade Complementarity
This paper provides overview of country specific features
of Africa’s trade. This report will provide country-specific analyses of Africa’s trade (both
export and import) in the form of a “Country Analytical Brief (CAB)” that examines changing
patterns and the composition of export and import for individual African countries.

TICAD III-related information
Review of TICAD (2003)
As TICAD marks its tenth anniversary, it is appropriate and timely
to undertake a broad and overall review of what has been achieved
to date, as well as to consider the opportunities that exist for
continuing and deepening cooperation. In this way, the review will
contribute to the shaping of a strengthened and appropriately focused

TICAD II-related information
Review of Implementation of Tokyo Agenda for Action (TAA)
This report serves as a follow up to a review made for the Ministerial-level
Meeting held in December 2001. Some of TAA's Goals and Objectives
are set for the future such as for the year 2005 and 2015. What
one could conclude at this juncture is whether there is stable progress
