Summary
17 February 2006 - The TICAD (Tokyo International Conference
on African Development) Conference on Consolidation of Peace took
place on February 16-17, 2006, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It was
co-organized by the Government of Japan, the United Nations (UN),
the Global Coalition for Africa (GCA), the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank, with the aim of bringing together
the experiences and lessons acquired in Africa and other regions. More...

On the occasion of the “TICAD Asia-Africa Trade and Investment
Conference (AATIC)” held in Tokyo on 1 – 2 November,

the TICAD process, the Third Tokyo International Conference on African
Development (TICAD III), one of the most important frameworks dedicated

TICAD II - Tokyo Agenda for Action (1998)
The primary theme of this Agenda for Action for African development
is poverty reduction through accelerated economic growth and sustainable
development, and effective integration of African economies into
the global economy. The challenges of poverty reduction, with a
goal of reducing the proportion of the population living in extreme
poverty by at least one-half by the year 2015, underscore the importance
of economic growth that is equitable, with all segments of the population
participating in economic activities and sharing in the benefits. Download

TICAD I - Tokyo Declaration (1993)
At the first Tokyo International Conference on African Development
(TICAD I), the entire gathering of over 1,000 participants from
48 African countries, 13 donor countries, international organizations,
observer countries and other groups, including civil society organizations,
adopted the Tokyo Declaration on African Development. The Declaration
was the conference's expression of agreement on the search for dynamic
